Anantha padmanabha swamy temple

Sri Anantha Padmanabha Swamy is a self-proclaimed (Swayambhu) incarnation (avatar) of Lord Vishnu. This Temple is located in a dense forest at Ananthagiri hills, Vikarabad, Telangana.

Here are Some Amazing Facts about this place:.

Stated in Vishnupuranam, Long back in Dwapara yuga, Rishi Markandeya went in search of a peaceful and pleasant place for doing Japam(Meditation) of Lord Vishnu, at this time Lord Brahma came and suggested this place called Ananthagiri. Then Rishi Markandeya came here and did immense meditation (Japam) for 1400 years and pleased Lord Vishnu.

Beside Garbha Gudi there is a cave that is connected to Kasi. Rishi Markandeya used to go to Kasi and bring holy water from the Ganga river and did abhisheka for Anantha Padmanabha Swamy. Even at present, one who visits this temple can see this Cave.

One day on Ashada Shudha Ekadashi Rishi Markandeya couldn't go to Kasi at early hours then lord himself made Ganga river to come at this place. Till now people believe that on this day i.e. every Ashada Shudha Ekadashi River Ganga will be coming to this Koneru.

King/Rishi Muchukunda stayed in Ananthagiri Caves for many years. Lord Vishnu gave Dharshan in the form of Anantha Padmanabha Swamy to Muchukunda Rishi then he took water from his kamandalam and cleaned the lord's holy feet. From that place itself, River Muchukunda originated. Later as years passed this has been renamed to Musi River.

At least once in a lifetime one should visit this place and have the blessing of Lord Sri Anantha Padmanabha Swamy.
