The story behind this Temple:

Long back there was a village called Viharapuri there lived three physically disabled brothers one was deaf other was dumb and another was blind. They used to work as farmers and cultivate a small piece of land and earn money.

One day the well went dried and there was no water for cultivation. They decided to dig the well further down so that they get water. While in process of digging the well one of the brothers hit a huge stone with an iron rod, soon after this blood started rushing from the stone. Meanwhile, the three brothers got rid of their disabilities and became normal persons due to the touch of holy blood.

They called villagers and with their help, they dug deep into the well and they found Lord Ganesh's idol.

Amazed!!! Yes, people were amazed by this and started offering prayers and lots of coconuts to the Lord. This coconut water started flowing as a stream and covered a distance of more than half acres. This incident changed the village name to Kanipakam.
